Is photography all about the location ? Really! or is it a myth?
You hear me talk location a LOT…
Because hi..we love to go and take our kids pictures in beautiful locations and think that is the location what will make or break the photo.
While I love going to amazing fun locations I strongly believe this depend of your season in life. When we have a tiny human who we just brought from the hospital, sometimes the best option IS to stay home and have the session there. I like AVOIDING STRESS at all cost, as I truly feel it translates into the images, if we have a family fretting over traffic, with 3 children under 5 , maybe a home session is the way to go, or the park across the street from our house right?
Do I say this to deter you from going to get portraits done in some of our amazing locations in the Valley, absolutely no!
???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????????????????????????.
Location is important and we have every location under the sun here in Las Vegas , or close enough……(hey I even did San Diego sessions last year! ).
Let’s think about what we are trying to capture when we are creating images for our families.
I strive to capture
-????????????????????????????????????????.
-???????????????? ????????????????????????????????.
-????????????????????????????.
Those connections are most real when we are not being attacked by STRESS and as a mom/photographer I know how stressful trying to get every one together, looking good yourself, the perfect clothes, snacks, etc could be.
Now…think for a minute, how would it feel to really go for the connection, not care so much about everything else and focus on the real feelings…..
???????????? ???????????? ???????????????? ?????????
Now breath. do it again. Do you care where you are at when you hold your kiddo’s hand and you ???????????????????????? FEEL IT?
What I mean by this is that we can be in the most beautiful place in the world and have a horrible experience and when you look back on the photos that is what you are going to feel, OR THE OPPOSITE, you can be in your couch at home, and create a magical moment and when you look back to your pictures THAT IS WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO FEEL…( I just posted that image above because I LOVE it ! It is pretty far from perfect as a photographer, but as a mom….I ADORE THIS PHOTO!)
When planning for a family photo session really think about THE EXPERIENCE.
It doesn’t mean that a in-home session is always the way to go, but, kids age, parents scheduling and availability ALL play a part on setting yourself up for success when it comes to a happy beautiful final portrait that you will want to hang in your wall!
If you haven’t started thinking of Holiday photos yet, this is the time, the weather is starting to break a bit and the days are getting shorter.
Schedule a design consultation with me to see what is the perfect location fit for your family in this season of your life.
Looking forward to catch up,
xoxo
